Table Manner in China
Hi guys, come back to me with this table manner topic. Last week my blog discussed the ethics of eating in Italian. And this week, I will discuss about table manners in European countries. I have a discussion on the topic. This week is the country of China. Why? because, China country is unique and there are some specials in their eating procedures.
Do you know that table manner in the country of South Korea?
Surely you have often seen in some electronic media or on youtube about table manners in China. Do you think the special one is certainly in a table manner? And how is the ethics of eating food or in your opinion the Asian country this one is similar to the ethics of eating with chopsticks? Okay, there must be something different Japanese of eating habits. Than you curious guys, let's follow one topic on my blog today, such as:
A. Tableware used
Equipment used for table manner in China
1. Chopsticks
Chopsticks are the basic equipment used by Chinese people. Chopsticks made of bamboo have become common among the people.
Chinese chopsticks are different from other chopsticks. Chinese chopsticks are slightly thick and square.
2. Rice Bowl
3. Soup Spoon
4. Soup bowl
5. Tea glass
6. Napkins and hand leaps
B. How to use chopsticks
Guys, one thing we must know is that holding chopsticks is a little difficult and complicated for the people of Indonesia. But, you calm down guys. I give tips for dealing with this one tableware, as follows:
1. Take the chopsticks on the right side of your table.
2. Hold the chopstick and place one chopstick between your middle and index finger.
3. Place the other chopstick between your index finger and middle finger. Stick and pinch with the help of your thumb.
4. Then, pinch the food by moving the chopsticks on your food. Do it slowly. Do it carefully so that your chopped food does not fall.
C. Place chopsticks together and parallel to your table
For those of you who don't know, guys. I tell you. When you have finished eating or pausing when eating. Then place the chopsticks in a parallel position and lie on your table.
Note:
✓ Don't stick chopsticks on food. Or above the rice bowl. This is very feasible and is prohibited in the country's cultured eating habits. Why can't chopsticks be stuck on rice or food? Because, it can resemble incense.
✓ second, don't also position your chopsticks like the letter X. Because, because according to Chinese beliefs. The position of letter X can be interpreted as "death".
✓ Don't also give food to your partner through one chopstick with your partner's chopsticks. This is considered an impolite thing.
D. Chinese like to cut small meals. Because this is done to make it easier for someone to eat food with chopsticks.
E. Chinese citizens like to eat together
The thing that is very liked by Chinese people. Eating together as a symbol of brotherly unity in each big family. Therefore, it is not uncommon for Chinese people to cook a little. They prefer to eat with many menu variants and prefer to share them with colleagues next to them.
F. Chinese country of the bamboo curtain like to eat on a round table
Why like to eat on a round table? Guys, this has its own philosophy in the bamboo curtain country. What is the philosophy? The round table contains philosophical "unity".
The following are important tips when you are faced with the following Chinese eating procedures:
✓ Hold the chopstick chopsticks in a narrow and upright position.
✓ Eat little by little when eating vegetable dishes.
✓ When you eat soup, do it with the soup bowl held by your hands and allowed to sip.
✓ When you eat noodles, lift the bowl until the food enters your mouth.
✓ If the soup you are serving is too hot, then place the soup bowl on the table. Take a little with a soup spoon. Don't blow your soup.
✓ Use a napkin to wipe leftovers on the side of your lips or over your mouth.
✓ Place the side of the food on the edge of the serving plate or bowl that has been used and not on the table.
